That thing in my "About Me" blurb about trolling other blogs for ideas I might adopt as my own? It is absolutely, 100% true. Trolling other blogs simultaneously inspires me and destroys my self esteem as I realize that I rarely have original thoughts of my own. But I'm not going to worry about that. Today.
There is a blog I enjoy called Nesting Place. It's all about nesting and haven making and I read it in hopes that my home will someday look less and less like a rented dorm room. I found it through the Reluctant Entertainer, and it give me hope.
The Nester (as she calls herself) has put out the call for people to join her in a series in October called the 31 Days. I think she and seven or eight of her blogging friends did it last year, where they posted every day in October about a topic. The Reluctant Entertainer did hers on 31 Days to Stress-Free Entertaining, while the Nester did 31 Days to a Less Messy Nest. You get the idea.
Well, they've invited the world to join them in the 31 Days series, and I have desperately wanted to join. However, there is that little problem of my lack of originality. I toyed around with a few ideas, but I couldn't come up with 31 different post ideas. I thought about doing 31 Links to Blog Posts That Are Way Better Than Anything I Could Come Up With. And then, just today, it dawned on me.
31 Days of Reading. My most faithful posts on this blog have been book reviews. I truly love to read, as evidenced by my reading lists that I tack onto the monthly report cards. So I could recommend one book a day, with a little bit about why I think you might like it. People are always looking for a good book to read. I've already read more than 31 this year, but I'll go beyond that. There are books I love that I haven't read yet this year, and still plan to do so. And doesn't it sound cozy and delicious to curl up with a good book as the weather turns cooler?
I'm really excited about it. I can't wait to share books that I've enjoyed. And hopefully, if you ever find yourself with a spare moment or two to read, you can check back here for ideas on what to read next.
Any of you crazy enough to take on a 31 Days project? What will it be about?
